What problems should be paid attention to when grinding stainless steel

Grinding stainless steel with the grinding wheel is prone to some problems, such as large grinding force, high grinding temperature, and easy burn of the machined surface; The trend of work hardening is serious; The grinding wheel is easy to adhere to the grinding debris so that the grinding wheel is blocked; Grinding scratch on workpiece surface; The workpiece is easy to deform. Therefore, the following points should be paid attention to when grinding stainless steel:

1. The grinding wheel shall be trimmed in time. During rough grinding, the grinding wheel shall be trimmed coarser, and during fine grinding, the grinding wheel shall be kept sharp to avoid overheating and burns. Burrs are not allowed at the corners on both sides of the trimmed grinding wheel.

2. When grinding with low surface roughness, rough grinding shall be carried out separately, and the fine grinding allowance is generally 0.05mm. When the working clamping error is large, 0.1mm can be reserved.

3. Sufficient cooling is required in the grinding process to take away a large amount of grinding heat and wash, so as to prevent the grinding wheel from blocking and the workpiece surface from burning. The coolant must be cleaned and cannot be mixed with worn debris or sand to avoid galling the workpiece. The coolant for grinding stainless steel is generally an emulsion with good cooling performance or coolant with low surface tension containing extreme pressure additives. The flow rate is 20 ~ 40l/min, and the diameter of the grinding wheel is 80 l / min.

4. The grinding allowance of stainless steel should be smaller. During cylindrical grinding, the grinding allowance on the diameter is 0.15 ~ 0.3mm, and the fine grinding allowance is 0.05mm. The allowance of internal grinding is basically the same as that of cylindrical grinding. During surface grinding, for parts with small areas and good rigidity, the allowance left on one side is 0.15 ~ 0.2mm. For parts with poor rigidity and large area, the allowance left on one side is 0.25 ~ 0.3mm.
